Why Photography Is My Passion

Since I was little I have always seen the world through a camera lens. When I would walk through the woods by our house, or when we would go on drives I would see something beautiful and say to myself "that would be a great picture!" At times I would specifically look for things that would look great photographed. I have always been a little creative and artsy, but was not as great as my sister when it came to creating art with my hands. I have the image in my head of what I want it to look like but I can't quite put it together, but with photography I can!
As much as I love creating the scene and the perfect shot, I love candid shots more. I want to be able to capture the raw emotion of my model. As the photographer I don't want to tell you WHAT to do, but instead I want to GUIDE you to get the perfect image. To me the most powerful photographs are the ones that show the real emotion and tell a story. When you tell your models "now look at each other and smile" you aren't going to get real emotion. Instead, if you say "I want you to look at him/her and tell me what you love about them", THEN you will get the real emotions! Emotions (in my opinion) are the most important part of getting a beautiful picture.
My goal in life is to be able to share the Lord's word with photojournalism. To capture the emotion and love for Christ is what it's all about for me. If I could work for a Christian organization and do mission work I would be as happy as a clam! To capture the story of a christian in photographs would we be an amazing blessing. Taking pictures of their life and showing people why they believe, how much they are loved by God, and how they have overcome struggles would be a dream come true. Everyone has battles and sharing stories of people overcoming them with God is such a beautiful motivation for me.
Everyone has a story and I want to be able to share them with the world. God created cameras for a reason. He wants his beauty to be seen and shared. Whether this means sharing stories of christians in a third world country, a rich man in ATL struggling to find God, or a young woman overcoming self esteem issues, I want to capture how God has saved them all!
Even your normal everyday portraits have a story. When I'm doing a photoshoot I want my models to be comfortable and enjoy their time with me! Having normal conversations, reassuring them they are beautiful, asking questions, and getting to know them is very important to me. By the end of the photoshoot I want to have built a friendship through my camera lens. Photographs are something that last forever, whether they are on your computer or in your photo album you can always bring back old memories with them. When you look at your pictures you almost go back in time. Pictures help us keep our stories and memories alive. My goal is to make sure I capture them in the most beautiful way possible and that your experience with me is memorable.
